I recently took another short photo walk around the township of Alexandra here in Johannesburg, South Africa. There’s always something going on with the hustle and bustle of people flowing in and out of the houses and alleyways. This old guy approached me and was very eager to get his picture taken. This is him.

This image is probably one of my favorite images that I took at the Amnesia Rockfest in Montebello, Canada recently. A guy in a wheel chair, crowd surfing. That has to be a rare sight for sure. Seeing the look on the guys face as the crowd passed him around and got him closer to the stage made my day. It’s always aweosme to see people come together to help someone less fortunate than themselves and here, of all places, where I would have expected it the least.

One of the highlights of my recent trip to California was meeting up with PLG(Pierre Luc Gagnon) to shoot some photos at the DC/Monster Energy ramp in San Diego. A picture of him helping me get the lighting set and a picture of the frontside air to wrap up the session.

I recently shot photos for the “Skateboarding for Hope” tour here in South Africa in which Evan Binge took 3rd place. On the trip home my friend Mike and I discussed the results and how close it was and I said I preferred some of the other guys styles to Evan’s… After seeing Evan skate this bowl here in South Africa, my opinion of him has completely changed. He goes in hard and with all his heart and you can see it in his style. Sorry Mike, you were right!

I shot this photo at the very first Maloof Money Cup in South Africa. It was quite a wild experience and I have to say one of the best photographic jobs I have ever had. Being a life long skateboarder and not only seeing but also getting to photograph some of the top professionals from around the world, how could it not be. Felix Arguelles(left) was a top pro from back in my days of skating and here he is with Manny Santiago(right), one of the top pros from today. Manny has become a high-light for the spectators here in South Africa for what is now known as the Kimberley Diamond Cup, he’s always having a good time, even if he’s competing in the final.

I shot this portrait quite a few years back of this Zulu lady in Johannesburg, South Africa. She was definitely a character and loved having her photo taken.

I just found this photo in my archives today of the 2 brothers from Malawi that did most of the renovation work on our home. We’re forever thankful for the great work they did. On the left is “Evans” and on the right is “Size”.

This is one of the photos that never got used for a recent article that I shot with Maanda. It was a random night and we decided to go to this spot and shoot the photo that we’d been discussing for so long. It didn’t take long for Maanda to land this one thankfully… Probably one of the dingiest roads in Edenvale.

I met PLG at the first contest in Kimberley in 2011 and had no idea that he was one of the top vert skaters in the world! Having hung out with him the night before and thinking he was just another dude that worked at the contest and then seeing him skating the following day had me feeling like a bit of an idiot. Shooting photos with him up on the vert ramp is always a good time and something I always look forward to. Here are 2 shots I took at the recent Kimberley Diamond Cup contest over in Kimberley.
