I recently took another short photo walk around the township of Alexandra here in Johannesburg, South Africa. There’s always something going on with the hustle and bustle of people flowing in and out of the houses and alleyways. This old guy approached me and was very eager to get his picture taken. This is him.

Our cousin’s recently came to visit us for a week with their 7 month old little girl, “Raylee”. We set up a photo shoot in our living room and here are some of the results. She’s quite a little heart melter.

One of the highlights of my recent trip to California was meeting up with PLG(Pierre Luc Gagnon) to shoot some photos at the DC/Monster Energy ramp in San Diego. A picture of him helping me get the lighting set and a picture of the frontside air to wrap up the session.

I recently shot photos for the “Skateboarding for Hope” tour here in South Africa in which Evan Binge took 3rd place. On the trip home my friend Mike and I discussed the results and how close it was and I said I preferred some of the other guys styles to Evan’s… After seeing Evan skate this bowl here in South Africa, my opinion of him has completely changed. He goes in hard and with all his heart and you can see it in his style. Sorry Mike, you were right!

I was just going through some of the photos I took on our honeymoon the other day and stumbled across these. A typical Madagascar style fishing boat out in the bay at sunset. I loved it there and would really love to go back some day and shoot more photos, one of the most mystical places I have ever been to.

I shot this photo at the very first Maloof Money Cup in South Africa. It was quite a wild experience and I have to say one of the best photographic jobs I have ever had. Being a life long skateboarder and not only seeing but also getting to photograph some of the top professionals from around the world, how could it not be. Felix Arguelles(left) was a top pro from back in my days of skating and here he is with Manny Santiago(right), one of the top pros from today. Manny has become a high-light for the spectators here in South Africa for what is now known as the Kimberley Diamond Cup, he’s always having a good time, even if he’s competing in the final.

These are some shots that I took over the weekend at the skatepark in Alexander Township in Johannesburg. I always knew it existed but never knew where it was and I have to say, I didn’t expect it to be as good as it was. It’s a huge park with loads to skate and ride on and the kids there are cool which, for me, is key. I really don’t care to hang out with a bunch of people that think they’re cooler than everyone else because they skate or ride better. Who cares, we’re all there to have fun anyways. It was fun watching these guys rip on their bikes and even more fun shooting some photos. Thanks to the people that built the skatepark and gave those kids a place to go to and do something positive, it beats most of the parks I’ve seen in upper to middle class neighborhoods.

I shot this portrait quite a few years back of this Zulu lady in Johannesburg, South Africa. She was definitely a character and loved having her photo taken.

Here are some photos I shot for the Moutain Dew event at the University of Johannesburg on Friday the 15th of March. Always a good time shooting photos for them. Everyone skated and rode hard and no one got hurt… It was a good day.

I just found this photo in my archives today of the 2 brothers from Malawi that did most of the renovation work on our home. We’re forever thankful for the great work they did. On the left is “Evans” and on the right is “Size”.
