Madagascar Boats…

Monday, May 12th, 2014

I was just going through some of the photos I took on our honeymoon the other day and stumbled across these.  A typical Madagascar style fishing boat out in the bay at sunset.  I loved it there and would really love to go back some day and shoot more photos, one of the most mystical places I have ever been to.

Lightning over Jozi

Thursday, November 28th, 2013

Johannesburg is known for it’s awesome lightning storms and last night was no exception.  From our balcanoy you can watch as the storms approach and get louder and louder.  These are some shots I took of a storm as it made it’s way over downtown Johannesburg towards our side of town last night

Kimberley Diamond Cup Opening Ceremony.

Monday, October 14th, 2013

The opnening ceremony for the Kimberley Diamond Cup was quite something to see this year.  I hung around to shoot photos of the fireworks and bands that would be performing for a rather enthusiastic crowd.  I ended up enjoying the evening way more than I had expected to and got some fun photos of the festivities.  Here are some of the shots I got as the fireworks sparked away like a war in the sky above the crowd.

Shelly Beach Long Exposure

Tuesday, May 7th, 2013

Here is another one of the long exposures I took while down at Shell Beach last week.  I love how a long exposure gives a photo life and really brings a cool dynamic into a photo if used correctly.  I hung around on the beach for quite some time to find the right spot and wait for the light to be just right, it always pays off to be patient.

The Moving Ocean

Monday, May 6th, 2013

I recently took a trip down to the South Coast on the Eastern side of Southern Africa to the ever warm Indian Ocean.  It’s beautiful down there, tropical and pretty much warm all year round!  We spent a couple days in Durban and then headed further south for 2 nights where we stayed at my paren’t vacation spot in a little town called, “Shelly Beach”.  I shot these photos down on the beach front, the light was perfect…

A man, his dog and a fire

Friday, January 25th, 2013

I was driving out in the middle of nowhere, close to a town called Nigel here in South Africa…  I was actually trying to meet up with some people but got lost along the way and stumbled across this little scene.  Pulled my car up and spoke to the man and tried to understand his broken english…  He agreed to let me shoot some photos and even called his dog over to get involved!  I shot these photos, gave the man a candy treat and was on my way.  I love how Africa has these strange things goin on in the most un-suspecting places, all you gotta do is get off the main roads and get yourself lost.

Star Trails

Thursday, August 23rd, 2012

Shooting photos of the stars isn’t something you get to do very often, especially when living in a big city where the sky is poluted with lights and smog.  You gotta get far away from it all, to a place where the nights are so dark you can’t see your hand in front of your face.  I took these photos on a recent trip through Botswana’s Kalahari Wilderness where everynight was filled with the sounds of the bush and the Milkyway in the sky.  There are no fences in the campsites where we stayed so it was a little scary setting up the photos as I always knew I was being watched, I’m just glad the Hyena’s made off with our 25L water can and NOT my camera and tripod!

Black & White Reflection

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

I shot this photo at one of the many dams in the Kruger National Park, it was a bright day out so the colors weren’t the best but I thought it worked pretty good as a Black & White image.
