South Africa is a third-world country and, although you don’t feel it as much when you’re in the big cities, it’s very apparent when you drive out into the coutry side.  We took my Lada Niva out for an off-road adventure this last Saturday on a dirt road that goes all the way out to Bronkhorstspruit Dam, stopping along the way to take pictures of interesting things…  I found this house quite interesting and the people were quite excited about some stranger taking pictures of their house!

I took a drive out into the country with Sarah the other day and stopped alongside the railway line to take a couple pictures, lucky for us, a train came cruising by!  I love trains! 

The day after our wedding we went to the Botanical Gardens and had a picnic and just lazed about on some blankets…  While lying on my back, I noticed the sun shining through this tree and thought it looked cool!  Hope you think it looks cool too!

This is the dress Sarah wore on our BIG DAY!  She looked beautiful in it!  We decided to put it on a chair and take some pics of it the other day! This is my favorite one!

I  have had a fascination with reptiles and amphibians my whole life.  I used to keep snakes as pets when I was a kid but I have since learnt to appreciate them in their natural habitat where they are most happy.  It’s a definite challenge getting any pictures of reptiles in the wild, they are NOT keen subjects and don’t sit still for very long!  You gotta be quick!  Here are some shots I have taken.  I will post some snake shots sometime soon!

Just been goin through my hard-drive and found some wildlife pictures I shot a while back.  There’s something soo cool about wildlife photography…  I love the innocence of animals out in nature, just doing what they do!  Looking back at images you take and experiencing that innocence must be one of the best feelings in the world!  This is my secret little passion, enjoy!

I went with some friends to a theme park here in Johannesburg and besides all the rides, they also have the standard ‘farm-animal zoo’ thing.  I found this beautiful horse in it’s stable around a corner and couldn’t miss the oppertunity af getting a picture.  I like it a lot!

Seeing Lions in the Kruger National Park is always a treat, you just can’t get sick of seeing them, ever!  I shot these pictures in 2008 on 2 separate trips to Kruger.  I can’t wait to get back there!

Jon Sortland or, ‘Big Jon’ as he is known to many people is a person of many faces and many talents, especially in the musical field, but most importantly, he’s a great friend!  I shot these pictures of him while on my last visit to San Francisco.

I recently purchased the Canon 400mm lens and it’s amzing, especially with bird photography!  The detail and colors are amazing!  These are some birds I captured with it on recent trips to different Safari Parks in South Africa.  Enjoy!
